Over the weekend, and at the request of several readers and fans, I went ahead and added a user forum to the website. It isn’t much at the moment but hopefully, in time, it will be with your help. Why have a forum? Well, besides being a great way to interact with me, my hope is that it will serve as a way for all of you to also interact and hopefully learn from each other. While the back and forth so far on this site has been great -excellent really -there may be questions, comments or concerns that have gone unheard due to their topic maybe not being in line with a particular article or post. Now, with the forum, anyone can ask anything or share without fear of being off topic. At least that is my hope.

Getting to and using the new forum is easy, all you have to do is click “forum” in the navigation bar above. Once inside you’re free to read whatever, which at the moment isn’t much, but if you want to participate -i.e. post something -then you have to register. Registration is easy and takes but a second. If it helps ease your conscious, any and all info used to register (it’s only email) will not be used in anyway. Once registered you’re free to post as many times as you’d like on any topic. You can even start your own topic(s) in hopes of getting others to contribute. I’ll be on the forum every day, though I’m not certain what times exactly, but I will get to everyone’s posts in due time.

A couple of rules with regards to the forum. First, all of you have been so kind and adult about the level of discourse that has already taken place elsewhere on the site. What I mean by that is, no one has disparaged anyone else, you’ve all been very helpful etc. I would really appreciate it if this outlook and attitude carried over to the forum. It’s okay to disagree, but it’s not okay to attack one another personally, so please keep it civil and we’ll be good. Second, please keep an open mind. Not everyone who comes to the forum is going to be an “expert” or have the resources another may have -either in terms of money, or space etc. -so please be courteous and accommodating. You’d be amazed how much I learn daily from folks who are asking me for advice. The point being, it’s about sharing, and the only way we can do that is to hear everyone out and come to conclusions together. Third, and this isn’t a HARD rule so much as a request, but try and keep the language PG-13. I do have some younger fans and I just want to be respectful. I don’t have anything against profanity, but it’s just not necessarily needed on a forum -particularly one that will be dealing primarily with home theater topics. Lastly, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m open to suggestions and will do my best to accommodate requests, and if I can’t I’ll do my best to explain why.

So there you have it. I want to welcome you all to the new forum. Again, I know it isn’t much, but with your help I think we can grow it into a cool little community. At least, that’s what I want for it. In the days and weeks ahead more and more content will be posted to the forum -unique content -but you don’t have to wait for me, you can start posting your own content right now. In fact, I hope you will.

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for participating on the new forum. Until next time, take care and stay tuned…

Andrew

I saw that you responded to a post. Are you clicking on “New Topic”, which is next to the “Subscribe” word in the upper right corner just above the words “Last Post”? You should be able to click on Ask Andrew then click “New Topic” and go from there. If you cannot please let me know and I’ll look into it further. Thanks and my apologies for the confusion, inconvenience or whatnot. Growing pains. :)
